Our Aim

Picture
The aim is to work with you to make positive change. Specialising in Psychological Trauma, Depression, Anxiety and Stress related issues, Helen offers a professional psychotherapy service, with an individualised approach.  She uses an integrative approach to therapy, working collaboratively to explore and understand your problems and applying the approach which best meets your needs.

Everyone's journey is different and so the "same hat doesn't fit everyone". However Helen believes anyone can find the "right tools" for them.  Whether it's Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Schema work, Solution Focussed Therapy, Compassion or Mindfulness or an evolving combination, Helen's aim is to bring a sense of hope and a belief in your ability to adapt, to make change, to make a difference in your life and to live the best life you can.

Appointments

Picture
Helen  will have a brief telephone consultation with you, to take down a few details, to give a brief outline of the problem you are seeking help for and consider the appropriateness of therapy. There is no charge for this.

Your initial assessment is 60 minutes. This may sound like a long time but many people are surprised by how quickly it goes. You don't need to worry about what to talk about or where to start. Helen will support you through the initial appointment by asking some questions which help her to begin to understand what the issues are and identify with you what you would like to achieve from therapy. Helen aims to make you feel comfortable to share information and understands it can feel strange if you aren't used to talking about personal things to others (please also read our confidentiality policy)

Follow-up sessions are usually 50-60 minutes dependent on therapy approach e.g. some EMDR sessions may sometimes be 90 minute sessions. However this will be agreed between yourself and Helen after your initial assessment

Confidentiality

Picture
Helen understands the sensitivity of some of the details that you may wish to disclose. Your information is treated with the highest regard and confidentiality in accordance with professional bodies. This and any limitations will be discussed with you at your first session. You will be asked to fill in some questionnaires and forms at your first session, these and any other records will be dealt with in accordance with professional regulations & guidelines and in compliance with the data protection act. Helen will be happy to share these with you at anytime. Helen does not routinely write to client's GPs however if you wish her write to your GP about something specific please discuss this with her. No extra charge is made for this.

Helen is registered with the ICO - the Information Commissioners Office and has privacy and data protection policies in place which you can view here

Picture
No drop-in available - by appointment only.

COLCHESTER
At The Stable Room,  a peaceful setting in Colchester - 5A The Stream, Layer Road, Colchester CO2 0HT (close to what was Clarice House, now Bannatynes Health Club)

MALDON

ONLINE
During lockdown we were able to continue to successfully use Zoom video sessions for clients' therapy. This has been a helpful option which will now continue to be available. It allows those clients who are unable to attend face to face sessions for various reasons, to continue to receive the support and to facilitate the change they are looking for. Whether they are shielding, have moved or live further away or perhaps are away on business but still want to be able to have their session, video link has proved to be a helpful way of connecting and maintaining continuity with therapy.

FEES

Picture
Fees for psychological therapy sessions may vary depending on approach required, however most clients are likely to be charged £800 for routine appointments. The first appointment fee regardless of therapy approach is £90.

Please discuss the cost of your treatment at the time of booking.

Payment is due at each session by BACS payment (preferred method) or by cash.
We are now also able to accept debit/credit card payments but please let us know in advance if you would like to use card payment

CANCELLATION POLICY

Picture
Due to the nature of how appointments are booked in therapy,  cancellations at short notice tend not to be re-filled, however unfortunately business overheads still apply. For this reason Hathi Therapies has had to make the decision to make a charge if  an appointment is  cancelled or rearranged with less than 24 hrs notice.

The following applies to all appointments:
24 hours or less, or "No show", 100% of the therapy session fee
Thank you so much for your understanding and cooperation. If you have any questions about this please discuss this with the therapist.

Please Note: we do currently have COVID-19 policies in place, which may impact on this
