REIKI
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that is also reputed to promote healing. It can be delivered by "laying on hands" although very often the therapist actually does not touch the client at all; holding their hands at a short distance from the client's body - this can make the client feel more comfortable but does not interfere with the effectiveness of the therapy.
Reiki is based on an idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. There is a suggestion that if one's "life force energy" is low or "out of sorts" in someway, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
Scientists agree that the world (indeed the universe) is made up of atoms and so too are animals and human beings. It could therefore be argued that the world and the human body are "connected" by atoms. Although there are many sceptics about complementary therapies including Reiki, there is in fact some research available that indicates that energy can be manipulated by a trained Reiki Practitioner. However regardless of how much evidenced based research there is, very many clients will tell you that they find it of benefit.
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method that everyone can use. A treatment for some can feel like a "wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around them", for others it feels simply calming and relaxing. Reiki ‘targets’ the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit, creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well-being.
Hathi Therapies would advise against relying on any complementary therapy over seeking medical advice and treatments recommended by medical specialists. However Reiki can be used as a fantastic complementary therapy alongside conventional treatment; some report that it has helped them with relief of side effects and promoted their recovery. It is certainly an effective form of relaxation.
